Our History

Sawgrass Players Club has a rich history dating back to the early 1970s, when development began around what would become the Sawgrass community east of A1A and the larger Caballos Del Mar planned community west of A1A. Over the next decade, land acquisitions and development decisions helped shape the area into the community residents know today.

Arvida Corporation, a Florida master planned community developer, designed most of Sawgrass Players Club, building what is now TPC Boulevard. Sawgrass Village opened soon after, followed by the Marriott at Sawgrass Resort.

Sawgrass Players Club Today

Today, the community reflects that development history through its blend of residential neighborhoods, golf courses, resort amenities, shopping, and nearby commercial properties.

Sawgrass Players Club includes nearly 1900 residences within our gates, including single-family homes, patio homes, condominiums and living units that are part of Vicar’s Landing at Sawgrass. The community is also home to 34 commercial properties, such as PGA Global Tour, Vicar’s Landing at Oakbridge, Marriott at Sawgrass, The Yards, and the shops and hotel within Sawgrass Village.

The Sawgrass Players Club Association—also known as the Master Association, or simply the Association—is a not-for-profit corporation formed under the deed covenants and restrictions that apply to properties within Players Club.

The Association sets the annual budget for the operation, repair and maintenance of Players Club common property, roads and drainage systems. It also manages gate access and provides architectural review. A nine-member Master Board of Directors, made up of resident volunteers, meets monthly and works with committees to make decisions that support the community. Learn More. See Governing Documents.
